Historical Background

The creation of Trustees was recommended by George Dance and William Tyler, the Royal Academy's first Auditors. The President and Treasurer are automatically Trustees, and two other Academicians are elected to serve with them.

In March 2000 it was agreed to add a fifth trustee.

Content Description

The records of the Trustees consist of the lease of Burlington House, 1866, the assignments of that lease, and a group of correspondence and related papers.

The group of papers with the previous reference code of 734 A-D have been placed together in this series, and follow the lease of Burlington House and its assignments.
