Content Description

A small collection of cuttings gathered by Anderdon and relating to Joseph Nollekens; the first, from 1760 is a brief notice of his winning a Royal Society of Arts; the second, from Feb 1774 is a notice of his marriage to the daughter of Justice Welch; two, from 1788, comprise a brief biography, noting his father's career and Nollekens early career and Italian soujourn; on the reverse two post-mortem cuttings provide further biographical details, including a letter from Nollekens to Thomas Banks, written in 1770 from Rome, and an anecdote whereby Nollekens receives his first ever commission, from David Garrick.
