Content Description

He has not heard from Humphry for years and fears his last letter must have been lost, in which he asked after a small picture of Van Dyck sent by him. He still hasn't received Humphry's portrait from [Gaetano Stefano] Bartolozzi along with other prints. He praises the beauty of Humphry's miniatures and would like to see his work on larger works in oil. He has heard Humphry has journeyed to America but is now back in London, so sends this letter via Signor Calderini. He is currently painting miniature historical portraits.

Humphry records that the Van Dyck work was sent to Venice through Mr. & Mrs. Storace, 8 July 1793, they assured him i t was safely delivered.
