Content Description

At the end of January he completes some sketches for Grillions; in March there is a newspaper cutting relating to the pernicious effects of tight lacing, next to this a cutting on the funeral of Lord Dacre, also in March he sends his portrait of Charles Forster to the National Gallery of Ireland; in April he notes that painting is very distressing for the eyes; in June he receives an honorary degree from Cambridge; July he receives a request from the Wiltshire Archaeological Society for a visit to Porch House, a letter from H.E. Medlicott is pasted in the volume together with a notice on their annual general meeting; in August he notes the death of C.W. Cope and includes a newspaper obituary, noting at the same time the "excellent" speech on sanitation on the reverse; on the 9th September he notes with sadness the death of Cannon Liddon, also in September is pasted a bill for tar from 1889; in November a note has been pasted from F.W. Farrer to the effect that the lease of 20 York Street is up in 1894; in the memoranda section he has noted expenses relating to Porch House.
