, Petition of students to the President and Council

To the President & Council of the Royal Academy of Arts:___

We, your petitioners, the undersigned, students in the
schools of the Royal Academy, earnestly & respect-
-fully beg you to reconsider your decision to ex-
-clude women from the study of the nude model
(i.e. nude woman, partially draped man.)
We desire to bring to your notice our general feeling
as Art Students that this exclusion from the
essential part of an Artist’s training places
women at a very great disadvantage. Under
the existing system they are obliged, under
great difficulties & at serious costs, to procure
this part of their training outside the walls
of the most prominent Art School in England.
