Content Description

Papers, compiled by Charles de Gruchy, Master of the School of Architecture, relating to the competition for the gold medal and travelling studentship of £200, 1939: a design for a crematorium, set by Sir Edwin Cooper, whose recently erected crematorium at the Borough of Marylebone Cemetery at Finchley in London, students were recommended to see. The papers include list of eligible students, suggested site plan and sketch [perhaps by Cooper], bibliography on crematoria, and list of examples in Great Britain and abroad.
