Content Description

Bemoaning his letter that miscarried from the Grove by Lord Clarendon. He will spend a week at Clarendon's, then another ten days with his brother's family at Seal, before retiring home. Towne is well and has resumed increasing his fortune. He doesn't know where Downman is, but thinks he should return to drawing slight sketches in chalk, at Bath.

The previous night he dined with the Mater of the Rolls at Ireland, a clever man, who was on his way to see Macbeth at the Opera House. Sir Vicary Gibbs is another clever and homely man.
