Historical Background

Proposed to be held in the Diploma Galleries of the Royal Academy to coincide with The First Hundred Years of the Royal Academy, showing in the main galleries.

A committee was appointed consisting of Sir Edward Maufe, Marshall Sisson, John Summerson and Sir Albert Richardson.

The project was wrecked by disagreement among the committee members. Maufe and Summerson decided the exhibition was not feasible. After consultation with the membership it was decided to cancel the exhibtion.

Content Description

Administrative records resulting from the abortive efforts, mostly of Richardson and Sisson, to marshal exhibits for the show.
