Historical Background

The Committee was appointed by the Council on 1 July 1915 and consisted of the "four trustees" (the President, Sir Edward Poynter, the Treasurer, Sir Aston Webb, the Keeper, Andrew C. Gow and Briton Riviere) and Sir Thomas Jackson.

Content Description

Ms minutes taken by the Secretary, Walter Lamb, of the meeting, which recommended that advertisements be placed in exhibition catalogues and that winter exhibitions including works of decorative art be held to increase income, and that prizes be reduced and voluntary pension contributions introduced as a means of retrenchment.
