Historical Background
A letter from Messrs Judd Ltd suggesting the possibility of reducing the fees payable to artists for illustrations of their works in newspapers was read at the meeting of Council of 31 January 1933. Council resolved to continue the existing arrangement until the end of the contract with Judd's, and then to review the matter.
Content Description
Draft copy, entitled "The Summer Exhibition, and Reproduction of Artists' Works in the Press." Ackland suggests that the press should be divided into two classes, and a lower fee charged to the smaller provincial and suburban press.
