Content Description
Accepting his election as Secretary for Foreign Correspondence [enclosed with letter to the Secretary of 31 October 1791]. Boswell says that he had always loved the arts, and did not neglect the opportunities he had for cultivating a taste for them during his travels on the continent; he is proud to be a member of an Academy that has the peculiar felicity of not being at all dependent on a minister, but is under the immediate patronage of the sovereign himself.
