TOWNSHEND HOUSE,
NORTH GATE,
REGENTS PARK. N.W.
8 Jan 1877.

To the Council of the Royal Academy
of Arts.

Chairman & Gentlemen
As I believe it to be a very useful thing for
students to have an opportunity of working
from two models at the same time I ordered two
for this morning when I had, as visitor,
to set the model for them. When doing so I heard
that it is not customary in that class, to have
more than one model sitting at a time and
that it will also be an increase of expense for
the month during which I attend.
I hope you will excuse my having outstepped
the general rules of the schools and my
pointing out that it was done before by Etty
I have the honour to be
Chairman & Gentlemen
