He was sorry to hear of his failure [to obtain the
Academy pension] and of the accident that happened to his model; he is thankful for Lawrence's gift of £50, this will enable him to execute a marble group; he is glad to hear of the strength of this year's exhibition and fully expects Britian's dominance of all her neighbours in "every branch of art".
