Historical Background

John Green belonged to the silversmiths Green, Ward and Green, the firm commissioned by the merchants of the City of London to make the commemorative 'Wellington Shield' (c. 1822), which Stothard designed.

Content Description

Green informs Stothard that Mr Thelwall and he will call to see the drawings on the following morning at about 12 o'clock.

Physical Characteristics

Right edge folded. The letter is heavily covered with sketches by Stothard in pencil and ink, some annotated, overlaying the text of the original letter in places.
