Content Description

Draft letter [date added in pencil at top of letter], in which Gibson reminds Londonderry that he had not stated that he would decline to take the statue of 'Bacchus' if it were coloured, when he visited Gibson's studio at Rome. Gibson then agrees to allow Londonderry to have work uncoloured. He defends himself for having made a copy of the head of 'Bacchus' by pointing out that Canova, Thorvaldsen and all the other sculptors at Rome made copies of their works.
