Content Description

Draft letter in which Gibson expresses mock outrage at a newspaper article that had claimed he declined undertaking a group for the memorial [to the Prince Consort] on account of his advanced age. He laments the state of his correspondent's country [a reference to the US Civil War.] He and [Penry] Williams had been as far as Livorno. 'The Faun' was much advanced, and the marble very clear of defects. Gibson gives news relating to the murders of three people. [The letter is incomplete.]
