Content Description

Forster hesitantly passes on the suggestion of the committee for the statue to William Huskisson that the draperies be lengthened over the legs, to prevent the "petticoat effect" in Gibson's sketch. Foster was obliged at the trouble Gibson had taken over the model he had left with Thorvaldsen, although he was not at all satisfied with Thorwaldsen's account of its loss.
