He takes to earliest opportunity to congratulate Humphry on his accession to his income and hopes he will now pay them a visit. He has glad also to hear that Humphry's business in India is looking so favourable, particularly now that
Lord Eldon is involved. He thinks it would be degrading to Humphry to take orders at his time of life.
He had previously been stuck in Bridgewater for a week with an attack of gout, but is now able to walk about at little more "than a gallop of a snail"
