Content Description

He copies out a letter he had from the Director of the [Uffizi] gallery accepting his portrait, and his own reply; he sends thanks for the verses to Romney, these are probably written by Cumberland, an enemy to Sir Joshua and supplies a disapproving opinion of Romney; he describes some sight seeing and Christmas celebrations; he will return home with Hoare but hopes to stop off in Flanders to see pictures by Rubens and the Flemish school.
