Content Description

He describes the carnival taking place in Rome; says that English receive more respect than any other nation; he went with Hoare to dine with a Dominican frier and saw the library of the [Santa Maria Sopra] Minerva; has also seen the library of Cardinal Corsini and rates the Vatican library the best; he reckons there is great justice in calling Raphael the greatest painter; he has heard that war is expected with France, through what Cardinal Bernis said to the Bishop of Derry.
