Elford has told him all about Miss Archer and is determined to marry her, in spite of his father's opposition, Reddish is regarded as a vain coxcomb, both by himself and by Mrs. Abington; he has written out Sir Joshua's discourse and needed the assistance of Gill to do it in time; he has painted a picture of the cook's pretty sister; he now has two weeks holiday from the Academy and has dined with Tom Mudge, Graves Elford sat to him and Gill at the same time; he has missed Garrick as Hamlet again but saw Mrs Colley; Mr. Pine has gone to Bath as his brother has died and left him everything; conculdes with a little Reynoldsian theory on painting.
