Content Description

The writer mentions a recent student of his, Anthony Morris, who was now at the RA Schools, and already had two paintings in the summer exhibition. He then writes about his former teacher, Charlie Mahon[e]y, who had been elected an ARA. Mahony would be "a tough nut for the RA schools!" He remembered Mahony throwing his [Hennes's] drawing board on the floor in disgust when he was a first year student at the RCA, and had heard that he had been credited with a suicide attempt. The writer understood that Mahony had left his job at the RCA because of his opinion of [John] Bratby. Hennes continues by hoping that Middleton Todd's health improves and by remarking on the space race. He concludes with some personal news and by expressing the hope that he and Middleton Todd could meet soon in London.
