Gibson's statue in marble of the wounded amazon, no. 1105, Royal Academy exhibition, 1840.

Content Description

Grosvenor expresses his admiration for Gibson's 'The Amazon', which he says looked better there [Eaton] than at the Royal Academy, where it had been placed on a taller pedestal. He was engaged in fitting out his yacht at Southampton, and looked forward to visiting Gibson in his studio at Rome.
