Content Description
Jones has been in ill health, and feels obliged to go abroad for the winter. He hopes that the governors of the British Institute will understand his need and hopes that it will enable him to render the picture [of 'Waterloo'], more worthy of their patronage. The sketches and studies are completed, and he hopes to bring the work to a conclusion in the summer of 1818.
