He is very busy these days. He went to see Clausen's watercolours in a dark frame of mind and came out utterly enchanted. "Such an exhibition as yours is more than a mental draught, it passes unconsciously into the physiological sphere". He knows that Clausen loves the Essex countryside, he was recently talking to an Essex ploughman who said his generation would be the last, at which point the fields will be given over to the tractor. He would love to see a "portrait" of the Essex plough from Clausen.
