Content Description

Mr. Daniel should have no doubt about his situation, his passage home will be as free as his passage out if the Cape does not answer his expectations.

He now treats Humphry with a profound secret. What happened to "a certain portrait", begun but not finished, due to a "mal entende" between a friend and Humphry? Does it still exist? If it does then Yonge must have it. It must be packed for the Cape, sent via Mr. Daniell, without his knowing what it is.

[draft reply by Humphry]: He does not lose a minute in answering Sir George's letter. The first part of his letter will gratify the family of the Daniells. As for the second, it is utterly out of his power to comply, as it would shamefully break with all principles of honour and confidential trust.
