Content Description

Hamilton describes the results of his excavations at Gabii: very little sculpture, but two large columns. He had lost a large amount of time and money on a very large inscription engraved on porphyry, but only found about a third of it, and that so mangled as to be illegible. Hamilton requests that he ask Nollekens to make a sketch of Townley's 'Cupid', so that he can have it restored.
