Content Description

He went to the Academy varnishing day and saw his two portraits in the corner of the "Black & White" room. Turnbull has a work in, but it is "skied". Wolfram Ford's works are hung well, Briton Riviere asked if he was satisfied. Byam Shaw's picture is the most important in the show, but he thinks it painted too quickly, Ford introduced them, he thought Shaw conceited. Sargent has four great portraits. Abbey has not finished his big picture and he thinks Abbey's work too theatrical. Stott has a lovely little picture, there are several huge jubilee pieces.
