Historical Background
Read at Council meeting of 1 September 1801. Because Frances Barret and, in another letter, Elizabeth Baker stated that they were not sufficiently known to any Academicians to request their signatures for attestation, it was resolved in future that the signatures of "two respectable housekeepers" would be sufficient.
