Content Description
Barry replies to a letter dated 12 February 1879, conveying the Council's offer of remuneration for past professional services, in accordance with a resolution of General Assembly. Barry says that the Council have decided that the Treasurer, alone among Academicians, cannot be selected to discharge professional functions and ought not to receive payment for architectural work connected with the buildings of the Royal Academy, and that in future such services will be entrusted to a paid Surveyor. Barry therefore rejects the offer.
