They have been unable to do anything to recover the debt. Major Shawe, private secretary to the
Marquess of Wellesley, thinks nothing can be done. They do still hold the Nabob's bond.
A footnote, added in February 1857, says that the firm went bankrupt in 1830 and their assingees were applied to, but denied owning such a document.
