The resolution to recognise Newton's service as Secretary was passed in the General Assembly of 10 December 1768, following his resignation from the office.
Content Description
The cup is a testimony from the President and Council of Newton's "able faithfull and diligent discharge of his duty to the Royal Academy from its first establishment in the year 1768 to the present year, 1789."
