Content Description
Copy of letter concerning the hanging of works by Augustus John at the Summer Exhibition. John had told the Hanging Committee that his picture had gone wrong, and he did not want to exhibit it. The Committee therefore had to find other Johns to occupy the space allocated, and found a full-length of Mrs Robert Adeane, never previously exhibited, a picture entitled 'The Young Negress' and a portrait of John's son Caspar, produced by the artist from his own house. A note states that the letter was sent to seven other members.
