Volume of minutes of the Council, including the following selected entries: a copy of a letter by the Keeper, Joseph Wilton, criticising James Barry, Professor of Painting, for delivering attacks on the Royal Academy and some of its members in the course of his lectures, a note of the production of supplementary evidence by Joseph Farington and the text of a letter to Barry advising him that his conduct was to be placed before the General Assembly, 2 - 6 March 1799; a copy of a letter of Henry Tresham protesting about the failure to award him a seat on the Council by succession, 28 December 1799; and entries relating to the dispute about the respective powers of the Council and General Assembly, which included the suspension by the latter of five Council members and involved the intervention of King George III, 24 May and 17 December 1803.
