Volume of minutes of the Council, including the following selected entries: decision to apply to the Demobilisation and Resettlement Department of the Ministry of Labour to assist the early release of artists from military service, 12 December 1918; report on the proposed co-ordination of architectural ateliers under the general control of the Royal Academy, 4 November 1919; entries relating to a letter from Lord D’Abernon, acting chairman of the board of trustees of the National Gallery, to the Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, urging the appointment of professional artists as trustees of the Tate Gallery, including a copy of a letter from the President, Sir Aston Webb, clarifying the Royal Academy’s position, 13 January 1920; a note of amendments to the report of the Special Committee on the proposed creation of a master of the Sculpture School, for submission to the General Assembly, 24 February 1921; permission granted to the Royal Academy to carry out repairs to the tomb of Thomas Gainsborough in Kew churchyard, Surrey, with the cost to be charged to the Leighton Fund, 14 June 1921; the presentation to the Royal Academy of the diploma work of Ozias Humphry, entitled ‘A Fortune-Teller’, missing since an early date, 2 August 1921; notes on the unveiling of the memorials to Schools students and members of the Artists’ Rifles who were killed in World War One, 23 May 1922; and discussion of the report of the Advertisements Committee, including the adoption of the recommendation that the Royal Academy employ a press agent, 22 May 1923.
