Minutes of meetings of the Council, including the following selected entries: the resolution, at the suggestion of the Keeper, Sir Henry Rushbury, that the period of study for Schools students should be reduced from five to four years, 5 January 1954; criticism by the Secretary, Humphrey Brooke, and the President, Sir Gerald Kelly, of the attitude of the art critic of The Times newspaper towards the Royal Academy, 25 May - 15 June 1954; and a note that a bronze statuette entitled ‘Eve’, by Sir Thomas Brock, the property of the Royal Academy for many years, could not be traced and was believed stolen, 7 December 1954.
