Minutes of meetings of the Council, including the following selected entries: note of the discovery by the Librarian, Sidney Hutchison, of 25 previously unrecorded drawings by George Stubbs for ‘The Anatomy of the Horse’, 12 February 1963; the resolution, in principle, to offer a two-year postgraduate course in the Schools, following a meeting between the President, Sir Charles Wheeler, and the Slade and the Royal College of Arts, 18 June 1963; the decision to take no action over the exhibition entitled British Art in the Sixties, at the Tate Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery, which included the work of only one Royal Academy member, 18 June 1963; the decision to investigate the protection the Michelangelo tondo [‘The Madonna and Child with the Infant St John’] with a Perspex shield, 6 August 1963; the Secretary, Humphrey Brooke, instructed to explore the possibility of obtaining a less intensive service at a lower fee from Clark Nelson and Partners Ltd, the Royal Academy’s public relations consultants, following an examination of the volume of press cuttings, 29 October 1963; and discussion of the draft report of the Government Committee on the sale of Works of Art by Public Bodies, 29 October 1963.
