Content Description
The copy (a typescript) is headed "copy of a letter in the Soane Museum". The letter urges Gilpin to become a member of the Royal Academy: the writers feel that Gilpin's doubts relative to the
Society of Artists are chimerical, as the Society will not be destroyed by their "desertion". A list of the Academicians is appended to the letter, along with further information relating to the Academy.

The typescript is accompanied by a letter from
Aston Webb, 19 Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster, London, to
W. R. M. Lamb, 25 June 1915, presenting the item on behalf of the trustees of the Soane Museum for inclusion in the RA archive.
