Weinglass says that the painting survives in a cut-down version, although Fuseli's correspondent may have been referring to an engraving by Moses Haughton.

Content Description

Observing that Fuseli's 'Caliban' was "a well-looking African black", and nowhere near as monstrous as in Shakespeare's description [The Tempest, I, 283-4 and 310].
