The opening page of the notebook carries Beechey's terms, as of 1819, for various types of portrait. Also the fact that he demands half the price at the first sitting. Then, in regular order, all payments are listed for works commissioned until 1826. The name of the client is recorded, often together with the type of work required, and always with the price received. Annual total income given. The rear of the volume is given over to sums owed.
