Content Description
He thinks limiting the number of paintings sent to the Academy to two would be detrimental to the exhibition. Firstly he thinks a large numner of works of merit would be excluded to allow more mediocrity. Secondly an artist is often not the best judge of his own work and could not be depended to send his two best pictures. Thirdly it would increase the tendency to send large works. In recent years he has never sent more then three works to the Royal Academy.
