Draft letter explaining that, while he much desired to paint the portrait of the Bishop of Rochester, he could not reduce the fee to the extent the archdeacon had suggested. On the other hand, there was a proposal that he go to Baghdad early the following year to paint two portraits for the royal palace. Could the matter of the bishop's portrait remain in abeyance for a short time?
