As an independent charity, everything we do; the exhibitions, the postgraduate courses for young artists at the RA Schools, the public workshops, lectures and debates – we do without revenue funding from the government.
Instead, we rely on the generosity of people who support the principle on which we were founded over 240 years ago: to provide a strong, clear voice for art and artists. “Anyone who’s ever set foot in the RA knows what a wonderful institution it is. By leaving a gift in your will, you’ll help ensure future generations can get as much enjoyment from it as you have.”

Did you know?
The Royal Academy Trust is a registered charity with Charity Number 1067270. Legacies to charities are usually exempt from inheritance tax, so as well as helping the Royal Academy your gift could also reduce the overall inheritance tax liability on your estate.
In addition to this, if you leave 10% of your taxable estate to charity then your estate may qualify for a reduced rate of inheritance tax at 36% instead of 40%. Your legal advisor will be able to give you more details, and you can find out more information about the reduced rate of inheritance tax at www.legacy10.com
and on the HMRC website.
