Chris Orr RA Watercolour, portrait, 14.5x10cm.
Is the postcard an endangered species? Is it destined to go the way of those little traditions - like taping your favourite TV show to VHS, or calling a friend on their land line - made increasingly obsolete by a digital world?

A new campaign by High Life, British Airways’ in-flight magazine, aims to resurrect the holiday postcard while raising money for Comic Relief.

Their online Celebrity Postcard Auction runs until November 1, and Royal Academicians Tracey Emin and Chris Orr are among those who have created mini works of art (others include Tom Jones, Gordon Ramsey and Diane von Furstenberg).

Emin has contributed a sketch inspired by the British seaside, namechecking her hometown of Margate, while Orr has created four humourous scenes showing British icons Britannia and John Bull abroad.
