RA Magazine Blog: Dressed to thrill

RSS

Last year we introduced you to the Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project, a programme of activities for young people and the joint effort of five London galleries including the Royal Academy.

The programme's first Summer Academy was led by artist Jessica Voorsanger and took place in the RA Schools over a week last August. Working with Voorsanger, whose work deals with ideas of celebrity and identity, the young people helped create photographic portraits of leading actors depicted as famous artists.

The fruits of their labours can now be seen in 'Art Imposters' a free exhibition in the gallery at Louis Vuitton Maison in New Bond Street, just around the corner from the RA.

The six large-format photographs feature actors Clive Rowe (Tracy Beaker, CBBC) as Pablo Picasso; Julian Rhind-Tutt (Green Wing, C4) as Louise Bourgeois, Sofonisba Anguissola and Yayoi Kusama (see above) and Amanda Root (Persuasion, BBC) as Thomas Gainsborough and Andy Warhol.

  • 'Art Imposters' runs until Sunday 16 January (Mon-Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 12-6pm).
