Background
The Royal Academy of Arts is unique among art institutions in that it is run by artists and architects. With its programme of loan exhibitions, postgraduate art school on site, and library and collection, the Royal Academy is a fascinating resource for a new generation of aspiring young artists.
This is the first online exhibition in the UK for secondary-school students at A level. It will be live from 8 June to 16 August 2009, showing at the same time as the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition
, the world’s largest open-submission contemporary art show.
All students studying A levels, IB or Higher and attending secondary schools and sixth-form colleges in the United Kingdom are eligible to enter. The exhibition will be curated from a shortlist by Kathleen Soriano, RA Exhibitions Secretary, a Royal Academician and a RA Schools student in May 2009.
General overview
This is a two-stage process. Teachers must first register their school online. This is followed by student online registration and submission of work which remains open until 31 March 2009. Each student can submit 3 images of their own artwork, produced in or out of school. (Please note that we are unable to accept video.)
