How much do I pay to see the exhibitions as a Friend?
All exhibitions are free for Friends.

May I give my card to someone else?
Your membership card is not transferable, only the named card holder will be admitted to the galleries accompanied by their guest allocation. You may be asked to provide a secondary form of identification on entrance to the galleries.

What should I do if I need a duplicate card or I forget my membership card?
If your card has been lost or stolen we can arrange for a duplicate card to be sent to you within 2 weeks. To request a replacement card contact the Friends Office by phone or by email, alternatively visit the Friends Desk in the Royal Academy foyer. We can issue a day pass at anytime at the Friends Desk if you have forgotten your card or if you are waiting to receive your duplicate.

May I bring a guest?
You may bring one adult family guest and up to four family children under 16 to any exhibition or Friends Preview.

How do I hear about forthcoming exhibitions and Friends Previews?
Exhibition dates and details are listed in the RA magazine which is sent to Friends in March, May, September and November each year and on the Friends website. For the Summer Exhibition you will receive a Friends Preview invitation for a specific date.

How do I renew my Friends Membership?
If you pay by Direct Debit you will automatically receive a new card approximately ten days before your account is due to be debited. Otherwise we will write to remind you when it is time to renew.

How do I find out about Friends Events?
A wide range of events and activities accompany each exhibition. These are listed in the RA Magazine and on the Friends website. The events are extremely popular and you are advised to apply early. A booking form is included in the RA Magazine and can be downloaded from the Friends website.

Are there any luggage restrictions?
We regret that we cannot accept suitcases, holdalls or backpacks in the cloakroom or in the galleries. Items may be subject to search. Bags must be no larger than 280mm width by 380mm height and 400mm depth.
