In conversation with Elain Harwood, John Partridge recalls how after working together in the LCC Architects Department, the partners of Howell, Killick, Partridge and Amis set up practice in 1959 to enter the Churchill College competition. He explains HKPA’s belief that the modern movement had established a basic and valid analytical attitude from which a richer language of architecture could be developed, derived from movement patterns, geometrical systems and the expression of structure and materials.
