William Tucker RA, Study for a Mother Goddess
William Tucker studied art history at the University of Oxford from 1955 to 1958. After graduating he studied sculpture at the Central School of Art and Design, London and St. Martin’s School of Art from 1959 to 1960.

Tucker's early work was composed from simple geometric shapes and utilised industrial materials. Although these works were reminiscent of minimalism they suggested organic processes of growth. In the 1980s he returned to modelling, rather than constructing, his sculptures. The modelled sculptures remain abstract but suggest figurative and narrative content. Tucker now lives and works in the USA
