Architects
David Chipperfield has won the RIBA Gold Medal 2011 for lifetime achievement, as well as the ‘Grand DAI Award for Building Culture 2010’ from the German Architects and Engineers Association (DAI). His show ‘Form Matters’ is at the Arsenali Medici, Pisa (until 16 Jan, 2011)
'CRAB by the Sea:Peter Cook and a sideways look at Architecture' is at Text+Work Gallery, the Arts University College, Bournemouth (15 Nov-7 Jan, 2011). He also has a show at the Inax Gallery in Tokyo (15–28 Dec)
How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr Foster? a film about Norman Foster has been released in Spain. His Sperone Westwater Gallery, New York, is now open, as well as the Faustino Winery in the Rioja region of Spain
Zaha Hadid's first pubic buildingin London, the Evelyn Grace Acdemy in Brixton has been completed. Hadid has also won the Stirling Prize for Architecture for her design for the MAXXI Centre for Contemporary Art in Florence.
A new monograph 'Building Ideas: MJP Architects' (£35, Right Angle Architects) charts the development of Richard MacCormac's practice through themed essays. The firm has recently completed Kendrew Quadrangle, St John’s College, Oxford and the Maggie’s Centre in Cheltenham.
